On this page are the fundamental and trading basics videos I’ve done with my nephew. These are introduction to basic concepts of chart trading.

Candlesticks

In this video I introduce NephewElite to candlesticks. This is 101 and we start from just the basics of how to look at a candle. We cover the OHLC.

We are still working on the style of these videos and we think we are getting it down as we move forward. The next one to be released I think you’ll see a improvement in the style and teaching.

Discover how to read a chart candlestick by candlestick. In this video we cover how each candle has a reaction candle. We also dive in a little about how the story of the chart helps you read candlestick patterns. Candlestick patterns help you find good trades. So this video really is learn how to read candlestick charts. In future videos we’ll come back to candlestick reading.

Trading Volume

In this video I introduce my nephew to volume. This is quick introduction for 2 reasons. First, in the RDTS we only pay attention to volume in two instances, stopping volume and exhaustive volume. Second, we use the vWAP in trade system and the vWAP does all the volume analysis we need to consider.

Indicators

Yes, we are still in some of the basics of trading, here we cover indicators. I share at a basic level what indicators are. After these next 1 or 2 videos we start getting into the trading system. Also, the videos that follow in this series get deeper and deeper and cover some topics I’ve shard on streams but maybe you haven’t caught. Here we talk about trading indicators. I start him off with the most basic indicator the moving average or the SMA. From there I share that there really are 2 types of indicators. On chart and panel. Then we wrap up.

Are there indicators every trader should know? Is it necessary to successfully trade that you must use indicators. In this lesson we dive into the top indicators “the google” thinks traders must know. This is helpful, even if you don’t use these indicators yourself knowing what exists and how to use them will give you a new perspective on the market. Because so many other (at least retail traders) use these indicators it’s even more important. Are these indicators effective? That is something we dive deep into because this is simply an introduction to all the indicators traders must know.

SMA vs EMA

Using simple moving averages and exponential moving averages are critical for any trader. In this training we cover the difference between a SMA vs EMA. We don’t get deep into the weeds it really is about the high level concept of the difference.

We also discuss that both of these indicators are lagging indicators. Often you’ll hear this as a negative but I believe this is a strength of these indicators, just most are taught how to use that strength. Another important concept we cover is these indicators continue to paint as the chart moves forward. So trading that use these indicators don’t often take this into account.

Support & Resistance

We are now into some chart learning with my nephew. In this video we do something a bit different. I could have easily fired up a few charts and taught S&R. Instead we found a few sites that explained the concept in quick simple images. I’ve cited all the sites we used down below.

Support is when the market is supported by price, upside or down. Resistance is when price stalls or can’t go beyond.
